Brian Jacob Church, Jared Chase, and Brent Betterly represented by Sarah Gelsomino and Michael Deutsch of the People's Law OfficeBrian Jacob Church, Jared Chase, and Brent Betterly represented by Sarah Gelsomino and Michael Deutsch of the People's Law Office won't be in court again until April 16. Their initial challenge to the Illinois Terrorism Statute has fallen short.
Last week, "Deutsch argued that the state terrorism statute used to charge Brian Jacob Church, Jared Chase, and Brent Betterly is unconstitutional on its face and as-applied to the three young activists"

"Judge Thaddeus Wilson... found that the Illinois Terrorism Statute is not unconstitutionally vague on its face.  Ruling on the challenge that the statute is unconstitutional as applied to the defendants, Judge Wilson denied the motion without prejudice.  This means that the defendants may be able to raise the issue again after the State presents its evidence at trial."
